Physical Essentials Goals and Objectives

Goals and Objectives of Physical Essentials

The outcomes expressed through the Physical Essentials curriculum follow:

As a result of participating in the Physical Essentials Curriculum, the elementary student will

1)    Respect themselves and others, as well as the equipment and learning environment.

2)    Develop, demonstrate, and understand fundamental movement skills and health related fitness components.

3)    Develop physical skills while increasing creativity and problem solving abilities.

4)    Use and enjoy physical activity outside the classroom.

Physical Essentials Themes

The Physical Essentials Curriculum has 10 different themes to offer to the students.  These themes are designed so the students will be able to learn fundamental skills they will use throughout their life.  Movement skills will help enable the students to grow and develop as full, functioning human beings in our society.  This curriculum does not focus on the traditional team sports; rather it focuses on cooperation, socialization and active lifetime fitness.  The themes are: Orientation, Locomotor, Ball Handling, Fitness, Manipulatives, Striking, Rhythms, Integration, Tumbling, and Special Events.
